Visiting Artist & Critics Series
The UCCS Visiting Artists and Critics Series (VACS) fosters understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through dialogue and critical conversations. Artists and scholars of national significance are invited to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs campus to present public lectures and meet with UCCS undergraduate students in classes and workshop settings. The Visiting Artists & Critics Series is a collaborative program of the UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA), UCCS Visual Arts and Art History (VAPA).

Whether reimagining the printed broadside or conducting a formal investigation of the visual vocabulary of type itself, the regional, national and international artists featured in this exhibition explore a range of concepts grounded in contemporary letterpress printing practice.

All is Calm • Theater Latté Da
All Is Calm relives the moment when Allied and German soldiers celebrated Christmas together, sharing food and drink, playing soccer, singing carols and burying each other's dead. Featuring the UCCS Army ROTC Color Guard, this ode to peace includes firsthand accounts by thirty World War I soldiers and music including patriotic tunes, trench songs and Christmas carols.

His influences from throughout the Diaspora make for a powerful addition to this season’s jazz lineup.

Aroundtown is a kinetic poem examining the varied notions of LOVE- its meaning, purpose, and platform. With original music, text, and visuals, the work explores commitment, community, and intimacy in times of violence and strife.
